Dr. Lisa Owyang Anton
Lisa is an eye surgeon turned entrepreneur and investor. She spent 30 years in direct patient care, 12 of those as the Chief of the Ophthalmology department managing over 60 employees. They included a combination of eye surgeons, optometrists and ancillary staff. She spread her wings into the entrepreneurial space 4 years ago representing a skincare company that is looking for acne treatment for her son and has never looked back.
Her education started at UC Davis as an undergraduate. She went onto UC Irvine medical school and stayed on at UC Irvine for her Ophthalmology residency. She joined the Downey branch of the Southern California Permanente Medical Group in 1991. She loved direct patient interaction and helped people by educating them about their medical diseases and preventative care. The eye is an extension of the body and Lisa was passionate about helping people maintain their vision while managing their systemic diseases such as diabetes, glaucoma and cataracts.
She accepted the role of Chief of the department with hesitancy but helped the department develop guidelines for timely medical care, coordinated a major move to a new location and helped write protocols for a procedure centre to expedite cataract surgery without affecting the quality of care. She had to coordinate budgeting for her department without affecting access and quality of eye care. Other than the excitement of growing her own business, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working out, loves the outdoors, She lives in Southern California with her husband and dog.
